‘Clouds are not spheres, mountains are not cones, and lightning does not travel in a straight line. '

The remote environment of the highlands has been a continuous inspiration to me. The way in which the natural elements form and sculpt the landscape greatly influences my work. I believe that nature poses as disordered and chaotic, yet on closer inspection a natural order becomes apparent. The structure, textures and patterns which are abundant within nature give me my driving force.  Photographer Eliot Porter inspires me to craft my designs to closely replicate the fragmented elements of nature. There is always a strong sense of personality in my work that hopefully mimics the fluidity and movement of the natural world.

My designs are based on forms found in nature, predominantly from surrounding costal landscapes and the sea. My final solutions are usually a result of working directly with paper or wax models in an intuitive way, producing numerous experiments with textures and forms, all of which are quick and easy to make. I produce striking and original pieces of jewellery in silver, oxodised silver and gold leaf, with each piece offering a unique character.
This creative process excites me to produce work to a professional standard which is fast and straight forward to craft, has simplicity in design and at the same time offers distinctive personality with an affordable price tag.

Aswell as making wearable pieces of jewellery in silver, I have experience with beading and button jewellery. This process is much quicker and allows me to produce instant jewellery, which has character and is much lower in price.
